Maxillary third molar and Subperiosteal abscess of the orbit: unusual and unnoticed complication
نویسنده
چکیده
Oral and maxillofacial surgery involves few procedures that may show severe complications with potential of life threatening problems. Subperiosteal abscess of orbit is an extremely rare complication arising spontaneously or after dental surgery. Till date, the occurrence of severe infections following surgical removal of third molars has not been clearly understood. Cellulitis of the orbit is one of the less common complications of odontogenic infections. The purpose of this article is to discuss a much unknown complication occurring following maxillary third molar.

AC TINOMYCOSIS: AN UNUSUAL COMPLICATION OF ORAL SURGERY-A CASE REPORT
Actinomycosis, a rather uncommon infection of the oral cavity, poses and unusual problem: recurrence. Primary or initial diagnosis of the disease is difficult and can be made easier only if the clinician bears in mind a few important facts: a previously compromised site is usually present, a slow, low-grade, almost painless infectious course is prevalent which tends to localize, and respond...
متن کاملComputed tomography in the management of orbital infections associated with dental disease.
Two patients developed orbital infection secondary to dental infections. In one patient the infection spread from maxillary premolar and molar teeth to the infratemporal and pterygopalatine fossa and then through the inferior orbital fissure to the subperiosteal space. A subperiosteal abscess in the posterior orbital wall developed, which subsequently spread within the muscle cone. In the secon...

A 12-year-old girl presented with a swollen right eye with three days of pain and a diffused swollen frontal region and head lasting for one day. On the computed tomography with contrast, diffused collection was detected in the subgaleal regions and subperiosteal of the right orbita. It was observed that she had bilateral maxillary, ethmoidal, and frontal sinusitis and an infected bilateral mid...
متن کاملEndodontic Retreatment of a Maxillary First Molar with Unusual Palatal Root Canal Morphology: A Case Report
Introdouction: Variations in root canal morphology pose a challenge for successful endodontic treatment. The root canal anatomy of the maxillary first molar has been often described as three roots with four canals (two mesiobuccal, one distobuccal, and one palatal). The occurrence of two palatal canals in one palatal root is quite rare. This report represents the case of a maxillary first molar...
متن کاملCase Report: Permanent Maxillary First Molar with Two Roots and Two Canals: A Rare Case Report
Abstract: Human maxillary first molars are usually considered as three-rooted teeth with four root canals for the presence of a second canal in the Mesio Buccal root (MB2). In addition, lateral ramifications and apical delta of the root canal system may frequently occur, increasing the probability of leaving untreated spaces after the root canal therapy. A thorough knowledge of root canal mor...
